Sacred & Religious Sites

Kumano Grand Shrine is a centuries-old shrine located in the south of Matsue, Japan. The shinto shrine is flanked by verdant mountains and features a thatch-roofed hall and a koi pond. It is highly recommended to make an effort to visit this shrine if you're in the area, as it features some beautiful historical sites and sanctuaries.

Serene, heart-calming spot, which would be memorable to any holiday maker regardless of his/her faith. A shrine founded thousands of years ago to worship various Gods who are said to have built the country Japan, according to what is described in Mythology 古事記 and 日本書紀 along w/nearby shrines in the suburbs of Matsue City, e.g., Yaegaki 八重垣 and Izumo 出雲 Grand Shrine, which are very popular especially among young girls because of these shrines' Match-Making status. Since the public transportation to Kumano Grand Shrine is quite limited - no Grab or Uber available as far as I've tried - prior planning is highly recommended, including the public mini-bus schedule from the gate of the Shrine (only hourly) to the closest & more frequently served bus terminal "Yakumo 八雲" back to the center of Matsue City, but even in case there is no conveniently connecting mini-bus, walking from Yakumo Terminal to Kumano Grand Shrine covering 6km would provide a pleasant excursion opportunity for anybody who wish to experience a countryside JPN, especially during Mar - Oct when it is not that harshly cold.

It is very quiet here. There are some koyfishes that you can feed, it is very icy for small children.

One of 2 Ichinomiyas in Shimane, an amazing shrine which is way quieter than Izumo Taisha. Would be a good pick place for the first prayer of the year.

This shrine is also called ``Hinomoto Hidezome no Yashiro'' and is famous as the shrine where fire originated.Located in Ichinomiya, Izumo Province, it is a shrine with a history and prestige that rivals Izumo Taisha.(A fact that surprisingly many people don't know ( *´艸`))Kumano Daijin Kushimikenu-no-mikoto, the god who defeated Yamata-no-Orochi, is enshrined here, and is dedicated to promoting industry and bringing good fortune. It is said to have the benefit of matchmaking and warding off evil spirits.(There are lots of kanji that are irresistible for Chuunibyou (#^.^#))There are also stories of people who actually visited the shrine while looking for marriage and were blessed with a good match after hearing that it was said to bring good luck in finding a match. (I want to play Ayakari ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°))Anyone who has visited the shrine knows that they feel a special power in the sacred atmosphere. (*people)Every year on October 15th, a festival called ``Sankasai Migushima Festival'' is held where people light fire, and it seems to be a traditional event unique to this shrine. Also, during the Kametayū Shinto ritual held in October, a unique ritual is held in which the Izumo Taisha priest challenges the Kumano Taisha priest.(I'm curious~(@^^)/~~~)It is a shrine with a deep history and unique rituals that will draw you in once you visit.Convenient access,Approximately 30 minutes by car from JR Matsue Station. You can easily go there by bus. At this shrine, Sujin no Mikoto is called by the honorific title Kumano Ookami Kushimokeno no Mikoto. Officially, it is Izanagi, Manako, Kaorogi, Kumano Okami Kushi, Mikino no Mikoto, which is quite long.It already existed in the early 700s, and at that time the shrine was built on what is now Tenguyama. It is also the birthplace of fire, and is also known as Japan's first fire shrine. It is a sacred fire-starting treasure housed in a slightly different-looking building within the shrine grounds, and is lit during Shinto rituals. The fire starter is a conical type and is said to have been passed down by Sujin no Mikoto.Although it is a large shrine among the Iuroku shrines, the grounds are well maintained and beautiful. You can worship comfortably.Various festivals are held throughout the year. Among them, the Kametayū Shinto ritual held in October is an unusual ritual in which the priests of Kumano Taisha are constantly criticizing the rice cakes delivered by Izumo Taisha. There is a large well-maintained parking lot. A toilet is also available.(Original)素盞嗚命を主祭神とする古社。

The main headquarters of Kumano Shrine is Kii's Kumano Sanzan (Kumano Hongu Taisha, Kumano Nachi Taisha, Kumano Hayatama Taisha), but this shrine has an older history and there is also a legend that it was enshrined in Kii from Izumo. It is considered to be Izumo Ichinomiya along with Izumo Taisha Shrine, and although it is a fine and well-maintained shrine, the main building was rebuilt in the modern era, so I don't really appreciate it. Although it may be difficult to visit by traveling all the way, there are other shrines in this area that are worth seeing, such as Kamintama Shrine and Yaegaki Shrine, so I think you will be satisfied if you visit them together.(Original)神代にさかのぼる火の発祥の地とされる神社で、「日本火出初之社(ひのもとひでぞめのやしろ)」とも呼ばれています。

(Translated by Google) Izumo Province Ichinomiya. It is said that a strange ritual called the Kame-dayu Shinto ritual is held here, and if you look at the details, it clearly shows that Kumano Taisha is of a higher rank than Izumo Taisha.Kumano Taisha is said to have originated when the Higashi-Izumo royal family, which had been occupied by the Mononobe clan, moved its palace from Oba (Kintama Shrine) to Kumano, upstream of the Iu River (King's River). It originally enshrined Kunato Okami, the ancestral god of the Izumo tribe, and Yaeha Tsumi (Joshiro-shu), who died a tragic death due to a plot by Jofuku (Susanoo), but now the main enshrined deity has been replaced by Susanoo. Masu….By the way, it is said that the body of the head of the shrine who died in Awashima is buried on Mt. Amengu (now turned into Mt. Tengu), where Kumano Taisha's inner shrine is located.(Original)出雲国一宮。

(Translated by Google) There is a benefit of matchmaking! At the beginning of October of last year, when we entered the third year of our marriage search, which we had been lazily continuing to do while taking breaks, I went on a trip to Shimane with my family. Shimane is one of my favorite travel destinations, and this was my third time visiting Kumano Taisha Shrine, and this time, at my mother's insistence, I prayed for marriage.I also visited Izumo Taisha Shrine. When I chatted with a local at a museum I stopped by, I was encouraged by someone who said, ``If you pray today, you'll be able to slip in and make it in time to consult the god of the moon,'' and I returned home feeling a mysterious response. I carefully enshrined the sacred talisman on my altar at home.As if my wish had come true, I quickly got engaged to someone I met soon after, and the following year we decided to get married at Kumano Taisha Shrine.Since it is a shrine dedicated to Suhoson and his wife, Princess Kushiinada, I think it is natural that it will bring good luck in matchmaking. The lucky charm comb is also cute, so I received it and am using it carefully. As the ladies who dressed me and did my hair and make-up during the wedding preparations said, some people call Kumano Taisha the parent of Izumo Taisha. The person who said that didn't seem to know much about the details, but I felt that it was a shrine that had a lot of weight to it, as people who were born and raised in Matsue perceived it that way. It makes sense since it is an Ichinomiya shrine along with Izumo Taisha.During the ceremony, a Shinto priest will perform live on the sho and koto.At the end of the ceremony, the priest would read something like an instruction, but this was extremely anachronistic. Wives don't appear in front of their husbands, they make the family name even more prosperous, and so on. If a man like Sosho Takashi were my husband, I wouldn't think of coming forward... It would be good if we could help each other by stepping forward and retreating while walking side by side.I'm sure there are people who are concerned about this, but I think it's best to not get too nervous and take it in a way that suits you.I was a little surprised to find a nice board for a nameplate among the hand-me-down items. It has an old-fashioned feel to it.My husband and I get along well, have fun together, and are doing well in good health, so I think we have a good relationship.I had a lot of bad experiences in my marriage, but thanks to everyone, I was able to get to where I am now.1. Pray for matchmaking at Kumano Taisha Shrine before the month of Kamiari.2. Visit Izumo Taisha Shrine properlyI'm just wondering if this was a mistake.I think it would be great if Kumano Taisha's matchmaking power spread along with Izumo Taisha. The following is a review of Kumano Taisha's affiliates and surrounding facilities. I hope this will be helpful to those who are considering a wedding ceremony. There is no building with a large hall inside the shrine, so the only things that can be done inside the shrine are preparations and the ceremony. It is possible to hold the reception at a luxurious hotel in Matsue City, but in my case, I chose Yuuaikuma-no-Yakata, which is right next door.We wanted to have a small ceremony with only our families invited, and enjoy a leisurely meal while chatting. Also, we had many families with young children, so we didn't want to burden them with transportation.Kuma no Yakata has a Showa-era feel to its exterior and interior, but the food is surprisingly delicious. I can see that they have put some thought into the menu, and despite being in a mountainous area, the quality of the sashimi was good and my family was very satisfied.I was wondering if I would be able to eat dinner after the reception because it was so large, but the receptionist suggested I prepare a boxed lunch. My family was happy because I could eat whenever I wanted, and the bento boxes were also very luxurious and delicious. There was nothing I disliked about the staff's response, and the bathhouse was very spacious and had a pleasant hot spring that felt good on the skin, so I was really grateful that I was able to make my family happy. We also had the option of renting a waiting room for relatives rather than staying overnight, so breastfeeding families could spend their time with peace of mind.I think Kumano Taisha is good because it has such facilities right next door. There are companies in the downtown area of Matsue City who can coordinate wedding ceremonies at Kumano Taisha Shrine. There is also an application form to submit to the shrine, so it will go smoothly if you ask the person at the shrine when you visit.I used Muramatsu who offers "Kumano Taisha weddings". Since we were founded as a costume rental store, we have many wonderful costumes. I was happy that I was able to get married in the white solid wood that I liked.I was very satisfied with how I dressed on the day, and was flexible with my hair and makeup, which I had communicated to them in advance.I think there are many women who are very particular about their wedding ceremony, but I think you can have a wonderful ceremony even if you leave it to the people around Kumano Taisha Shrine.(Original)縁結びのご利益あり!
